About Us
The clocks from Timedots are made in the southern part of Denmark in Europe. In our workshop all the components are assembled by hand. The components are made by Danish or German sub suppliers. The production series are as small as 10 units, and our products are only available in our online shop. For this reason a Timedots clock is not found in every home or business. Actually Timedots is unknown for most people, except the few who want a unique designer product in high quality.
Timedots creates wall clocks in a simple innovative design. Clocks made of high quality materials and strong components. We focus equally on design and function in our effort to give our customers a range of options to make the design individual.
The history of Timedots
In 1999, Thomas Birkebæk and Jesper Just Nielsen designed the wall clock "Timeless." Shortly afterward they established a company within the organization Young Enterprise. In 2000, they won the Danish competition in entrepreneurship, and participated in the European entrepreneur championship at the world exhibit EXPO 2000.
At the end of the Young Enterprise project, the company name changed to Birkebaek & Just. The range was expanded to 11 models of different wall clocks, world clocks and table clocks. The clocks of B&J were sold through watchmakers in Denmark and exclusive shops around Europe and USA.
In 2005, Birkebaek Group took over B&J and re-organized production, so the range of products was reduced and the dealer network was replaced by online trading. In 2008, the company name was changed to Timedots and the production exclusively focused on the wall clock Flextime.
Flextime
The Flextime wall clock was designed by Thomas Birkebaek in 2002. The first version of Flextime consisted of Clockwork 50 and Time Mark 30 in steel. This only left few design options. The solution to this came with the development of Clockwork 25 and Time Mark 12 in steel. Now Flextime design 10B could be created. It has since become the most selling design.
Production
All the clock components are assembled by hand in our workshop. We use highly skilled and effective Danish and German sub suppliers. Our suppliers are chosen based on high requirements in quality, flexibility and service. We have only been able to find such suppliers in Denmark and Germany.
We use real steel for the clock faces and the timedots. The hands are made in aluminum. There are no plastic surfaces with metal-look in our products. The production process is unusual, because most clocks today are made in China with cheap components. The clocks from Timedots are in Danish quality, in higher quality than many of our Asian competitors’ products.
Online store
We only sell our products online in our own online store. This distribution is chosen to ensure our customers the best level of information, a large selection of products, the best guidance and quick delivery. Because we have cut out the profit for the agents and dealers, we can offer our customers reasonable prices.
Environment
There are a number of environment advantages by running an online store compared to running a physical store. In Timedots’ case following factors are important:
Timedots has no physical store which our customers have to use means of transportation to visit. We have an online store and ship our orders as parcels. This business model saves resources for both our customers and the environment.
Timedots is a participant in the climate initiative "CO2 neutral websites". The carbon emissions from both the website and the users of the website have been neutralized by the building of new renewable energy sources. Click on the logo on the right in the bottom to see our certificate.
Timedots uses only e-mails to inform the customers in the process of buying a clock. All templates and info material are available as downloads and are optional. Paper and distribution is saved doing business like this.
